Inaugural Aerospace Maintenance Council Competition Soars to Success at VERTICON in Dallas
The inaugural Aerospace Maintenance Council (AMC) Competition, held during VERTICON in Dallas, was an exciting showcase of skill, teamwork, and ingenuity. Thirteen teams from various backgrounds competed across eight highly challenging maintenance events designed to test the precision, problem-solving, and technical expertise required in aerospace maintenance.
The competition saw three categories of teams—school, MRO/OEM, and general aviation—battle it out, with the following standout teams taking home top honors:
- Utah State University emerged as the Top School Team and overall Competition Winner, demonstrating outstanding performance and technical mastery across all events.
- Leonardo DRS Advanced Program Support - Team 1 claimed victory in the MRO/OEM Category, showing their strength in professional maintenance and operations.
- Chennault Aviation Maintenance Academy dominated the General Aviation Category, showcasing the skill and dedication of their team members.
Additionally, individual awards were presented to recognize exceptional professionalism and achievement among competitors:
- Eliza Ward of Idaho State University was honored with the Aerospace Maintenance Council Professionalism Award for student competitors. Ward also received the Jim & Alice Rice Test Grant Fee, generously provided by the Northrop Rice Foundation.
- Casey Salzar of Chennault Aviation Maintenance Academy earned the Aerospace Maintenance Council Professionalism Award for industry competitors. This prestigious award is voted on by the event judges and acknowledges outstanding professionalism within the aerospace maintenance field.
- The Aerospace Maintenance Council also awarded the Phoebe Omlie Scholarship, a $1,500 prize to Stephanie Hughes of Tarrant County College, to support her continued education and training in aerospace maintenance.
