Professional Bio

Bret Oestreich is a seasoned aviation professional and respected labor leader with more than 30 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, safety, and workforce advocacy. He currently serves as National President of the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA), representing and advancing the interests of Aircraft Maintenance Technicians and Engineers across North America.

Oestreich began his aviation career as a Crew Chief on C-130 aircraft in the United States Air Force before earning his Airframe and Powerplant certification in 1995. He went on to serve in technical and leadership roles at American Airlines and Southwest Airlines, where he developed a reputation for championing safety, integrity, and professional excellence.

Since his election as AMFA National President in 2016, Oestreich has strengthened industry partnerships, expanded educational outreach, and advanced recognition of aviation maintenance professionals as essential to flight safety and reliability.
