Procedures:
|
- Apply masking tape around edge of conduit (for measurement purposes).
- Cut around the outer jacket along the edge of the tape.
Note: Hold the cutter fix and rotate conduit 360 deg.
Warning: Do not apply excess force on cutters. Braids may be damaged. Cut around the outer jacket along the edge of the tape.
- Remove trimmed jacket and discard.
- Flare out braid, separating it away from conduit.
- Thread the fitting to conduit until it bottoms.
- Place shield over shield termination area.
- Ensure the band strap is double wrapped.
- Find Band-Master tool and locate the engraved illustration of the band strap’s coiled position.
- Find the engraved illustration on the Band-Master
- Find the trigger (small gray lever) located adjacent to the TENSION handle.
- Press and hold the trigger, then orientate and insert band strap per engraved illustration until the band is visible on the other end.
- Place band strap over the shield termination area. Ensure braid doesn’t cover the fitting’s groove.
- On the Band-Master, continue applying TENSION until the handle locks in place (hears click).
- Apply pressure on the CUTOFF handle to cut off excess band for complete band installation.
- Press and hold the trigger (small gray lever) and pull excess band from tool.
Warning: Do not touch sharp end area of trimmed band (buckle).
- Read and record the resistance at the shield termination area, between the adapter fitting (behind coupling nut) and shield.
- Apply fiberglass tape over the band strap. Ensure tape doesn’t cover the fitting’s groove.
- Grab the AutoShrink and identify the end with the thicker wall and the end with the thinner wall on the orange tubing.
- Slide the assembly, conduit first, through the side of the AutoShrink with the thicker wall.
- Pull and rotate the loose cord counterclockwise with one hand, while holding the conduit assembly with the other hand.
- Position the end of the AutoShrink with the thicker wall over the groove of the fitting.
- Ensure the edge of the AutoShrink properly sits on the fitting’s groove.
- Fully remove cord from AutoShrink for complete installation.
- Return tools to designated area.
