Description:

This event requires competitors to use modern reflectometry technology to locate a fault on an aircraft wire.

Tools, Equipment, and Materials Provided:

• Test bench
• AERO Smart-R kit, including
  • AERO Smart-R kit module
  • Tablet with Digital-R app
  • Leads set to properly connect to the wire to test

Snap-on provided tooling (qty one in each of two pallets unless otherwise indicated): None

Procedures:

1. 1. Get familiar with the wiring diagram. The judge will indicate which wire to inspect (different scenarios with the same level of difficulty will be given to the competitors).
   2. Switch on the equipment
      1. Switch on AERO Smart-R kit module
      2. Switch on the tablet (the tablet will be on sleep mode)
      3. Launch Digital-R app
      4. Select the right cable type in the cable library
      5. Launch a measurement on the app: Bluetooth connection / Permanent mode
   3. Connect AERO Smart-R kit to the harness on the test bench
      1. Select the proper leads in AERO Smart-R kit to connect to the connector
      2. Assemble leads with the proper Banana-BNC transition and connect to AERO Smart-R kit module using a probe cable (50 ohm BNC)
      3. Make sure the leads are twisted together
   4. Perform the diagnostics
      1. Read the diagnostics on the tablet
      2. Give the answer to the judge, should your answer is good judge will stop the clock and your time will be registered. Then a bonus exercise could be performed
   5. Bonus exercise
      1. The judge will indicate another wire to test
      2. Repeat the same instructions for the new wire to test
   6. Properly switch off and store the equipment
