Moeller Aerospace Click-Loc® Challenge – We Won’t Back Off

Description:

This event compares traditional safety-wire installation techniques to Click-Loc® Self-Locking Technology, requiring competitors to demonstrate accurate, consistent, and secure installations using both methods.

Snap-on provided tooling (qty one in each of two pallets unless otherwise indicated):

Station #1:

  1. 3/4” Crowfoot wrench with 3/8” drive (FCO24A)
  2. 1-150 lb/in torque wrench with 3/8” drive (QD2R200A)
  3. 3/4” Combination Wrench (SOEXL24B)

Station #2:

  1. 3/4” Crowfoot wrench with 3/8” drive (FCO24A)
  2. 1-150 lb/in torque wrench with 3/8” drive (QD2R200A)
  3. Safety wire pliers (WTG8A)
  4. Safety wire .032 CS (WT105-3216)
  5. Wire cutters (86ACF)
  6. 3/4” Combination Wrench (SOEXL24B)

Station #3:

  1. 3/8” drive ratchet (F80)
  2. 2” - 3/8” drive extension (FX2)
  3. 1-150 lb/in torque wrench with 3/8” drive (QD2R200A)

Station #4:

  1. 3/8” drive ratchet (F80)
  2. 2” - 3/8” drive extension (FX2)
  3. 1-150 lb/in torque wrench with 3/8” drive (QD2R200A)
  4.  3/4” Socket (SF241)
  5. Safety wire pliers (WTG8A)
  6. Safety wire .032 CS (WT105-3216)
  7. Wire cutters (86ACF)

Station #5:

  1. 9/16” combination box end wrench (OEX18B)
  2. 9/16” Crowfoot wrench (FCO18A)
  3. 1-150 lb/in torque wrench with 3/8” drive (QD2R200A)

Station #6:

  1. 9/16” combination box end wrench (OEX18B)
  2. 9/16” Crowfoot wrench (FCO18A)
  3. 1-150 lb/in torque wrench with 3/8” drive (QD2R200A)
  4. Safety wire pliers (WTG8A)
  5. Safety wire .032 CS (WT105-3216)

Procedures:

    1. Station 1 – Upper left corner of panel (Click-Loc™ turnbuckle)
      1. Rotate and adjust the Heim joint to fit over the stud.
      2. Torque the jam nut to 100 lb/in +/- 5 lb/in.
    2. Station 2 – Upper right corner of panel (safety wire turnbuckle)
      1. Rotate and adjust the Heim joint to fit over the stud.
      2. Torque the jam nut to 100 lb/in +/- 5 lb/in.
      3. Safety wire the jam nut to the turnbuckle body per AS567.
    3. Station 3 – Middle left side of panel (Click-Loc™ borescope plug)
      1. Install Click-Loc™ borescope plug into the fixture and hand tighten.
      2. Torque the borescope plug to 100 lb/in +/- 5 lb/in.
    4. Station 4 – Middle right side of panel (safety wire borescope plug)
      1. Install generic borescope plug into the fixture and hand tighten.
      2. Torque the borescope plug to 100 lb/in +/- 5 lb/in.
      3. Safety wire the borescope plug to the fixture per AS567.
    5. Station 5 – Lower Left side of panel (Click-Loc™ -06 fluid fitting)
      1. Slide the B-Nut down the fluid tube and connect to the nipple of the bulkhead fitting and hand thread together.
      2. Torque the B-nut to 70 lb/in +/- 10 lb/in.
    6. Station 6 – Lower right side of panel (safety wire -06 fluid fitting)
      1. Slide the B-nut down the fluid tube and connect to the nipple of the bulkhead fitting and hand thread together.
      2. Torque the B-nut to 70 lb/in +/- 10 lb/in.
    7. Safety Wire the B-nut to the bulkhead fitting per AS567.

Additional penalties may be assessed for failure to validate torque wrench settings with judge before use.
